Cornerstone Masonry Wins Award
Masonry Construction Magazine Names "Project of the Year"
Cornerstone Masonry of Salinas, California, was notified today that they have won an Honorable Mention in Masonry Construction magazine’s “Project of the Year” contest. Baldo Vultaggio of Cornerstone Masonry, a local mason with an artistic eye, created the Silver Cloud Building in Monterey, California. Graniterock’s Building Materials Branches of the Monterey Bay area provided the materials.
The building owner gave Cornerstone Masonry some ideas for a unique building faced with stone and then gave Baldo free rein and complete control to finish the project. “The building owner wanted something that was artistic and unique,” says Baldo. “He wanted something that would be a conversation piece as the front of his commercial building.” The one-of-a-kind masterpiece is an abstract application of various kinds of manufactured stone. The design combines waves and circles, images emerging, forming and retreating, and stone going in different directions creating the narrative that is this project.
Cornerstone Masonry has been in business since 1994 and specializes in custom masonry projects and commercial work. They work out of Salinas and cover the Monterey Bay area and all the way to Fresno. Baldo goes on to say a heartfelt, “Thanks to all his employees, contractors and suppliers, as this and all Cornerstone’s other projects would not have been possible without you.”
