Four Million Accident Free Miles Driven
Graniterock Drivers Achieve Professional Driving Milestone
Graniterock’s Transportation Division has just rolled passed the four-million mile mark without a traffic accident. Over 20 dedicated drivers of Graniterock’s highway aggregate and bulk material trucks contributed to this important community safety achievement. This accomplishment was made with trucks that daily travel as far away as central and southern California and into the San Francisco Bay area.
“These dedicated men and women are true professionals and are extremely committed to being safe on our public roads,” said Transportation Division Manager Carey Wong. “I am proud tobe associated with such a dedicated and safety conscious group of individuals. it’s a real challenge for them when they have to make their way through some of the most busy and congested highways in California. We tip our hats to them and congratulate them on reaching this outstanding achievement!”
Graniterock holds safety as one of its nine corporate objectives and considers Safety Before All Else as one of its core values. The company provides on-going regular safety meetings, continuing education and daily reminders that help keep safe operations paramount in the minds of this remarkable group.
Granite Rock Company was founded on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1900. The Company celebrated its 100th Anniversary this year with a gala event including an equipment show and Keynote Address by former President George Bush, the 41st President of the United States. Graniterock has operations in Watsonville, Santa Cruz, Seaside, Salinas, Hollister, Aromas, Felton, San Jose, Redwood City and South San Francisco. The Company’s Pavex Construction Division is a significant regional heavy engineering contractor building roadways, airports and private commercial and residential projects.
Granite Rock Company received the 1992 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the 1994 Governor’s Golden State Quality Award. The Company was named one of the 100 Best Places to Work in America by Fortune magazine. This is the third year in a row the company was so honored among the country’s best employers.
