Special Guest The Grass Roots
WATSONVILLE—The Grass Roots, the hugely successful California pop-rock band of the 60s and 70s will headline the POPS & ROCKS INDEPENDENCE DAY FESTIVAL this Fourth of July at Graniterock’s A.R. Wilson Quarry. Come experience rousing patriotic music and dazzling aerial fireworks and relive the sounds of the 60s and 70s as The Grass Roots help celebrate our nation’s birth.
In the entire history of Rock n’ Roll, only nine bands (including The Beatles) have charted more hits on Billboard’s Hot 100 than The Grass Roots. MIDNIGHT CONFESSION, SOONER OR LATER, and TEMTATION EYES will have you out of your seat and dancing in the aisles. The Grass Roots have appeared on more than 50 national television shows and spent an unbelievable 307 straight weeks on the Billboard charts.
The always-popular Joe Sharino Band, winner of twelve “Best Band Awards” in the Bay Area will also perform. Joe will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the fun-filled evening. The combined talents of the 70-member Monterey County and Santa Cruz County Symphony Orchestras will provide musical accompaniment for The Grass Roots. The Orchestras will also play an innovative, electronically choreographed score to a spectacular aerial fireworks display after sundown. The Joe Sharino Band will provide rock ’n’ roll dance music after the fireworks until 10:30 pm.
Proceeds from the POPS & ROCKS Independence Day Festival benefit the participating community musical organizations and local United Way agencies.
