Graniterock Receives United Way Gold Medal For Outstanding Corporate Campaign
Local Company Celebrates at the Monterey Bay Aquarium
At the 2004 Victory Celebration of United Way of Santa Cruz County held March 5, 2004, Graniterock was honored with the coveted Gold Medal for Outstanding Campaign in the Construction and Transportation Category. The Gold Award is given to companies for outstanding contributions of $100,000 or more. Graniterock People, along with the Company’s dollar-for-dollar match, contributed over $170,000 to the United Way.
The festivities kicked off with a presentation by the United Way honoring companies and individuals who helped raise an outstanding $1.2 Million for the Santa Cruz County United Way Member Agencies. The remainder of the evening was spent enjoying the beautiful jellyfish displays and fabulous “strolling banquet” provided to all attendees. “Every Graniterock Team Member should be proud to be a part of another successful campaign, not only in Santa Cruz County, but in each of the other Graniterock Counties as well,” said Penn DiJulio, Graniterock’s Co-Campaign Coordinator.
Penn and Josh Winans, Graniterock’s other co-coordinator, are part of Human Resource Services. “Graniterock has been campaigning for the United Way for 15 years. Each and every year has been more and more successful. This is a tribute to the caring and community-minded nature of Graniterock People and their families throughout the Bay Area and Central Coast,” remarked Josh.
“Our campaign would be far less successful without the contribution of each Branch Campaign Coordinator. They dedicate many hours to organizing the campaign and developing creative fund-raising ideas. We couldn’t do any of this with out them,” added Penn.
As winner of the prestigious “Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award,” Bruce Woolpert, President and CEO of Graniterock, and his team have turned their talents toward helping public schools improve their results. As Past President of the Santa Cruz County Business Council, Bruce Woolpert also works diligently to improve opportunities for businesses and their employees.
