Graniterock’s Commitment To The Community Wins Award
Graniterock Named 2006 Manufacturing Business-Of-The-Year by the San Beninto County Chamber of Commerce
Graniterock, a 105-year-old Company is a third-generation family-owned construction business providing rock, sand, gravel, asphalt, concrete and building materials in San Benito, Monterey, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and San Francisco Counties. The Company still operates under California Contractors License No. 22.
The 800 employee Company was recognized for its exemplary training and educations programs as well as its commitment to the local community. Graniterock is the largest contributor to the San Benito County United Way and is active in the Hazel Hawkins Hospital Foundation, the San Benito County Leadership program, the Aromas Eagles and Aromas Business Council.
The San Benito County Chamber of Commerce, established in 1921, is currently 550 members strong. Its mission is to create, promote and celebrate economic vitality within San Benito County by providing resources to businesses and individuals. Groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, milestones and business of the month are just a few of the ways that the Chamber welcomes and acknowledges its members.
Graniterock was founded on Valentine’s Day, 1900, when its first operation, the A.R. Wilson Quarry, was opened in Aromas and soon became a heavy engineering contractor. Its California Contractor’s License—#22—demonstrates how long the Company has been in business. Graniterock will soon open a new Branch location in Cupertino on De Anza Boulevard supplying construction building and landscaping materials. There are already plant or branch locations in Aromas, Felton, Hollister, Monterey Peninsula, Oakland, Redwood City, Salinas, Santa Cruz, San Jose, and So. San Francisco. Graniterock’s Pavex Construction Division operates from area offices in Redwood City, San Jose, Oakland, and Watsonville, and performs large work such as highway or runway expansion projects, as well as commercial and residential projects. The Company’s Corporate Offices have been located in Watsonville since 1900.
