Graniterock Selects New President and CEO
Tom Squeri Assumes Leadership Position
The Graniterock Board of Directors has completed its work in implementing the Company’s succession plan following the untimely death of former President and CEO Bruce W. Woolpert. On Saturday, July 21, 2012, the Company’s Board elected current Vice President and General Counsel Tom Squeri to serve as Graniterock's new President and CEO. The Board and the Woolpert family felt very strongly that the next generation of leadership must be selected from inside the Company, to ensure that the Company’s 112-year old culture and values are preserved. Mr. Squeri exemplifies the Company’s core values, and his primary accountability will be to carry the Graniterock culture forward. Mark Kaminski, who served as acting President and CEO immediately after Mr. Woolpert’s death, will remain Chairman of the Board and will continue to provide strategic leadership to the Company.Tom Squeri served as General Counsel to Graniterock since joining the Company in 1998. He is a graduate of Santa Clara University and Santa Clara Law School, and has practiced in the field of construction law since 1985. In addition to his General Counsel role, Tom was responsible for leading the Company’s resource development and environmental management teams, and served on the Company’s Executive Committee.
The Board selected Kevin Jeffery as the Company’s new General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Kevin served as Assistant General Counsel since joining the Company in 2006.
Graniterock has been headquartered in Watsonville, California, since its founding in 1900. The Company’s employees work in branch locations in South San Francisco, Redwood City, San Jose, Salinas, Monterey, Oakland, Watsonville, Felton, Cupertino, and Santa Cruz. Graniterock supplies construction materials including ready-mix concrete, hot mix asphalt, building materials, landscaping supplies, rock, sand and gravel. The Company’s Pavex Construction Division is a significant regional heavy engineering contractor building roadways, airports and private commercial and residential projects. Graniterock received the 1992 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the 1994 Governor’s Golden State Quality Award.
