Cathrina Barros, the Office Chief of Asphalt Pavements at Caltrans, will emphasize the importance of using the appropriate mix for each job in asphalt paving, while also providing updates on the latest industry developments at the state level.

The seminar will aim to inform participants about the importance of accurate mix selection for optimizing pavement performance and durability.

Additionally, the seminar will include a session on Best Practices for a successful project in Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) and concrete, which will discuss the key elements required for successful project outcome.

Another segment will focus on Balanced Mix Design (BMD) for HMA, which is a systematic approach that considers multiple factors to determine the optimal mix design for HMA.

Lastly, the seminar will cover the 2024 California legislature regarding the use of Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP), including proposed changes to the existing legislature and the challenges and opportunities associated with the increased use of RAP in the construction industry.
